about

While the Cassette Culture of the 70's-80's was reconstructing the way music was to be made and distributed WDCD RADIO used the airwaves as a delivery system for their far reaching serious minded silly sounds and satirical sideshow of the human condition. Always conceptually challenging and often hilariously difficult. This long running radio program continues today.

"WDCD RADIO is not so much music as sound constructions. A journey through electronic chirps, sequenced circuit calls over the sound of tape whirl. A narration embellished with electronic flutterings and bluesy tonal sustains and serial music. Despite the disparate elements the sound is wonderfully cohesive. Incorporating elements from the free side of the rock music spectrum. WDCD RADIO has an intelligent intuitive, and visceral dedication to the unconventional."
- Mud Funny

"WDCD Radio – A wanton display of control and disruption – was a masterful half hour audio theater show that aired on Fridays on WBCQ for a respectable run. Sadly, they are gone now from active airplay, though we occasionally pull one of their shows out and run it on Area 51. WDCD Radio is one of those handful of shows that really pushed the envelope of uncensored, free speech content. From vintage sixties deejay airchecks, as presented in this show, to telephone answering machine tapes from a jilted lover, motivational tapes for a sales marketing outfit, and sex instruction records, nothing is off limits for WDCD Radio. They were perfect for WBCQ and even more so for Area 51."
